The two will face off in a non-title fight on Saturday evening at the Tsavo Ball Room in KICC, Nairobi
Former Africa champion Daniel Wanyonyi has declared war on Tanzanian boxer Karim "Mtu Kazi' Mandonga when the two face off at the KICC on Saturday evening.
Speaking after the weigh-in on Friday afternoon, Wanyonyi assured Kenyans that he would deliver victory over Mandonga.
"Kenyans should not be worried, I will win the fight. Mandonga has been speaking a lot of gibberish but time for action is here and I am more than ready to stop him," Wanyonyi said.
Asked if he thinks he would knock out Mandonga, the reserved Wanyonyi said; "There's a possibility that might happen if he is not careful. I am an experienced boxer and I know how to fight on the ring while he knows how to talk outside it."
Wanyonyi will be banking on his experience (27-14-2, 22 KOs record ) to edge the tough-talking Mandonga Mtu Kazi (3-3-1) in the 10 round super middleweight bout. The Tanzanian boxer however says his opponent's record doesn't scare him.
"My dream as a boxer is now fulfilled. I wanted to fight in Nairobi professionally and I have achieved that. I am here to work and I can assure everyone that I will beat Wanyonyi mercilessly. His record doesn't really mean anything - he is beatable and I will beat him." Mandonga said.
